On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, students of Foundation 1 are presenting an act on hardships faced by girls in general and how to overcome it with dedication.
As we are aware, most of the time the birth of boy child is considered prestigious where as birth of girl child is considered as a burden to the family and hence they are aborted or given up instantly.
In this act we represent a girl child speaking from a mother's womb to allow her to live her life.
Later, as the girl child is born, she grows up into a young girl focused and dedicated to educate herself, but unfortunately she still faces more hurdles and is harassed.
But she is unbreakable, unbendable, she fights rightfully for her freedom and emerges victorious.
The girl child is represented rightfully as a free flying bird !

About Vilasini Natyam:
Vilasini Natyam is the dance tradition of Telugu Devadasis - researched, interpreted, revived and recast by Padmabhushan Guru Swapnasundari. It was traditionally performed in the temples as a ritual, in the royal courts for the aesthetic pleasure of royalty and for the general public as a form of infotainment. As all the Devadasi dance forms went through the renaissance period, this art also went through a difficult stage of rejection, doubt and rebuke. Unlike other Devadasi art forms this dance form did not find a gradual transition from the temple to the public arena. In the 1990s Guru Swapnasundari researched on the dance tradition of Telugu Devadasis. She learnt from some of the senior practitioners - Maddula Lakshminarayana and others. Guru Swapnasundari's understanding and interpretation of the Telugu Devadasi art is Vilasini Natyam.

The special topic of this year was 'Animal Welfare'. The world today is much crueler than it was a few decades ago. One of the worst cases of this cruelty is this diabolical urge to rape not only humans but also animals. These poor helpless and voiceless animals are deprived of so many rights due to humans' greed. On the bright side, there is a handful of few who work on helping the brave and loyal animals. Through the Street Play and Poster, the girls portrayed animalistic actions of humans and the humanity of animals.
