Semester I - Asian Dramaturgy and Indian Poetic Tradition

1. To gain knowledge of the Theory and Technique of Ancient Sanskrit Drama, Kudiyattam, Kabuki, Noh and Chinese Opera.

2. To able to critically appeciate the works of dramatists of Sanskrit literature.

2. To be able to make a comparative study of the Asian Theatrical Forms.

Semester II - Poetics and Western Dance

1. To gain knowledge of the various schools of Indian Poetics and its Application to Indian Classical Dance.

2. To understand Indian Aesthetic in the context of Indian classical dance.

3. To study the History and Development of 'Western Ballet' and 'Modern Dance'.

4. An overview of Modern Dance in India vis-a-vis the study of contemporary dances in Indian context..
