Dr. Smt.Uma Rele was invited for a lecture demonstration to Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) under the School of Liberal Arts on 28th March 2025.
She was felicitated by Dr Bhagyashree Patil, Pro-Vice Chancellor of DY Patil University alongwith Guru Shri Nanda Kapote ji SNA Awardee(Kathak), Director, DY Patil and. Guru Dr. Smt .Swati Daithankar (Bharata Natyam)
She presented the lec dem along with two Nalanda senior students: Shruti Varier and Avantika Pawar, pursuing Masters in Performing Arts (Bharatanatyam)
The session began with an in-depth exploration of Bharatanatyam, the Rasa theory of Bharata, and the Ashta Nayikas and Ashta Rasas. Highlighting Nalanda's Nritta technique, the students performed a Varnam, followed by a theoretical analysis underscoring the significance of theory in Performing Arts. The demonstration continued with an exploration of Rasa and its connection to Nayikas, as Dr. Smt. Uma Rele elaborated on their relevance in Bharatanatyam, showcasing three distinct Nayika types.
The lecture concluded with an engaging discussion, where an enthusiastic audience actively participated, making it a truly enriching experience.
